Jersey County Jury Information:

Overview

Jurors are selected by computer randomization from Voter Registration and Illinois Secretary of State Drivers Registration.

Jury Service is an opportunity for you to perform an important civil duty, fulfill a community responsibility, as well as being a rewarding experience.

In order to be a juror, it is not expected or necessary that you have any special talent or training in the law.  You, as a juror, will sit in judgement of the facts of a case.

The jurors' average Court day commences at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. with a recess for lunch.

The Court does not encourage request for postponement or excuses.

You may be excused if an emergency arises.  You may be excused from jury service by the Circuit Court only for legitimate reasons.  Requests to be excused for medical reasons should be accompanied by a doctor's certificate.  Once we receive your doctors note, you will be automatically excused.  Access to jury service is available to all persons as required by the ADA act of 1990.  If you are a person with a disability, and are in need of accommodations, please call 618-498-5571, Ext. 124 no later than 14 days prior to your report date.
